ABLAZE - The 1849 white supremacist attack on the Pendleton Post Office - a Public Talk hosted by the Pendleton Area Advocates for Intellectual Freedom -

Upstate friends: I’ll be talking on April 28 at the First Baptist Church of Pendleton about a story that is local and uncomfortably familiar—an 1849 attack on the Pendleton post office that opens onto larger questions about censorship, media, and public speech.

It’s not as distant from our present moment as one might like. Ahem.

Join me and the Pendleton Area Advocates for Intellectual Freedom (7–8 PM, First Baptist Church of Pendleton). I’ll bring the story; you bring your questions and your general resistance to barbarism.

More than anything, it’s a chance to gather, think together, and strengthen our collective resolve around intellectual freedom.

Please invite your pals
